Interest Groups

Interest groups promote lifelong learning. Many interest groups are available in morning, afternoon and evening. New groups could be started. For information contact Sandi Schoenman, Interest Groups Coordinator.

There are two bridge groups. For a twice monthly meeting contact Nancy Ware. For a once monthly meeting contact Gretchen Christophel.

The Great Decision members each purchase a booklet on current international affairs. The members read the same article and one member leads the discussion. The group meets the third Monday at 7:00 p.m. Contact Vicki Nicholson if interested.

Great Decisions II meets on the second Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Charlotte Luallin is the contact person for Great Decisions II.

Healthy Heart members are dedicated to learning about and sharing low-fat, low-calorie food. The hostess plans the menu and provides the main dish. Other members prepare the side dishes.

  • The dinner group meets the second Sunday evening. Contact the chair, Jane Cooley for information.
  • The lunch group meets the third Wednesday at noon. Contact the chair, Becky Anton .

La Merienda is a Spanish conversation group. The members speak Spanish at the meetings, which are usually held in members' homes. In the summer they go to lunch at various restaurants. They discuss topics relating to the Hispanic world, such as, history, art, music, literature and politics. They meet the second Monday at 10:00 a.m. Contact Mary Ann Fleming if you would like to participate.

Money and Me is a discussion group about money matters for the purpose of increasing financial knowledge. The group meets the third Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Gail Reed is the contact person.

Reader's Theater meets the second Wednesday, October through May in the evening. Members read a different play aloud each month. The plays are provided by the Fullerton Branch. The members particularly enjoy comedies. New members are always welcome. Please contact Diane Petersen for information.

Spanish Study members read, translate and discuss articles from "El Sol" magazine. The culture and language of the Spanish speaking world is emphasized. Contact Esther Zendt for information

Women of the World will hear women speakers from other cultures. Leigh Stephens is chair of the Women of the World group.

Film Fans members attend and discuss movies on the third Tuesday, matinee. The film is to be determined the Friday prior. Contact Cherril Peabody.

Scrabble Just for Fun is a new group which meets on the fourth Monday at 1:00 pm. Contact Viviane Counts.

Singles Dining Out is for members who are interested in trying new restaurants and getting to know each other through great conversation. The group meets the first Sunday at 6:00 pm. Contact Ramona Panson for information.

Couples Dining is a couples group . Contact Kathy Asay for details.
