Educational Foundation awards scholarships
to women who are working toward advanced degrees. The Eleanor Roosevelt
Fund, which is supported by Educational Foundation, awards
scholarships to teachers in the classroom. AAUW branches support EF
through fund raisers. The recipients of both funds are available as
speakers to the branches. Marty McKnew is Sacramento branch EF chair.
The Legal Advocacy Fund supports women seeking judicial redress for
sex discrimination in higher education. Sacramento and Citrus Heights/American
River Branches plan a luncheon with speaker and conduct a raffle as
a fund
raiser.
The
LAF
recipients are available for speakers to the branches. Becky Anton and
Tanisha South are LAF co-chairs for Sacramento branch.
Scholarships offered by Sacramento AAUW encourage women to achieve
their goals and become valuable community members. The Sacramento branch
of AAUW raises money for, and awards scholarships to, individuals who
meet certain criteria.

Tech Trek is a week-long residential math/science camp for girls
entering the eighth grade. Sacramento Branch raises money to send
two or
three girls to Tech Trek held on several California campuses,
including Stanford University and Mills College. Teachers are hired.
AAUW members volunteer
as
room-mothers
and
other jobs. Lisa Beauchamp is chair of Tech Trek.
The Foster Kids Emancipation Project collects household goods for baskets
that are presented annually at the Independent Living Program graduation.
Mentoring and tutoring are projects that may be implemented. The
project is chaired by Mary Schneider.
Money Wise Women
Forum is a community outreach program for Sacramento AAUW.
