Public Policy

PolicyPublic Policy covers a wide spectrum of concerns for women, both nationally and state.

The Public Policy staff in Washington, D.C. consists of six staff members. Two are dedicated to federal lobbying; four communicate with local branch members about public policy. Local branches subscribe to Action Alert which concerns bills active in Congress.

California AAUW has a paid Legislative Analyst, Charlotte Newhart. She advises the state Public Policy Committee on bills that are pending. The state notifies the branches with a call for action, such as, lobbying or writing letters to the legislators.
